Artist Statement

My process entails researching printed material and images, and re-purposing it to create a new narrative. I look for source materials that have historical, and environmental meaning. I do extensive research through obscure collections of printed material, magazines, books and photographs.  The natural world and landscape also inform many of my pieces.  The way our built environment and natural spaces intersect fascinates me.  I often consider how infrastructure effects our environment and how our need to control nature and use nature alters our landscapes.   Using those source materials I assemble and revise them into my own interpretive images. The images reflect both cultural and historical narratives that are evident, paired with contemporary elements that can resonate with audiences.  Each piece tries to examine the personal and collective histories that become connections to our past and can function to inform our future.
